What was meant to be a 12-mile loop to Old Man Coniston quickly became a battle with the elements, as stronger-than-expected wind and rain called time on the route at the top of the first Wainwright. The climb to Weatherlam packed in nearly 620m of ascent over the first three miles, with the pace dropping to 1.8mph on the steepest section, before the descent picked up again to a brisk 2.28mph for the final mile.
Despite cutting the route short, 6.6 miles and 796m of elevation gain made for a solid 2h 50m outing—and Weatherlam was still ticked off the list.

What was meant to be a 12-mile loop to Old Man Coniston ended at the top of the first Wainwright due to the wind and rain, that was a lot stronger than anticipated. Still ticked off Weatherlam, though.
