Our final Lakes walk was a short but enjoyable 4.6-mile wander around Grasmere and up to Rydal Cave, giving the dogs one last chance to burn off some energy before the drive home. Taking 1h 36m 30s, the walk was mostly relaxed, with the biggest effort coming on mile three as we gained 20m of elevation and the heart rate climbed to 108 bpm, before picking up the pace on the descent to a brisk 3.08 mph.
With cool 11.4°C temperatures and an average heart rate of just 99 bpm, it was a perfect low-key finish to the trip—enough hills, fresh air and tired dogs without overdoing it.
